How to get the most from it

  • Best-value use. Elite Points on Iberia Group flights are 1 per €1 of net fare and carrier charges, excluding taxes and fees. Every 10 Avios earn 1 Elite Point, and partner activity counts for at most 30% of a tier target. Moving Avios to British Airways Club is 1:1 and does not reset the Iberia expiry clock.
  • Common mistakes. The transfer page does not require a minimum tier. The minimum level is for opening a Family Account, which is joint use, not a transfer. Do not describe reward seats as “limited seats” from the news page, and do not promise a cabin upgrade: that wording was not on the page we checked.
  • Expiry traps. The whole Avios balance expires after 36 months with no earning or spending. Transfers between Avios programmes, and between members, do not count. In a Family Account, if at least one Silver-or-higher member earned or redeemed in the last 36 months, the other members’ balances do not expire. Membership may be closed after 60 months of inactivity, and automatically after 72. The Spanish text prevails.

Ways to earn

Flights earn Avios and Elite Points. Partner brands and incoming Avios transfers are separate routes.

  • Flights

    Iberia and partner airlines earn Avios. Elite Points are 1 per €1 spent on Iberia Group flights, on the net fare and carrier charges, excluding taxes and fees, plus extras such as bags and seats. For every 10 Avios, 1 Elite Point. Partner activity counts for at most 30% of a tier target.

  • Partner brands

    More than 90 partner brands. Avios earned with partners also earn Elite Points, up to 30% of the tier target.

  • Move Avios in

    Combine Avios from British Airways Club, AerClub, Vueling, Finnair, Loganair and Qatar via avios.com.

Ways to spend

Avios pay for Iberia and partner flights, part payment, and transfers to another Iberia Club member.

  • Avios flights

    Seats on Iberia flights reserved for members, plus partner airlines. The news page does not say “limited seats”. The terms use a limited quota. Cabin upgrades are not described on the page we checked.

  • Part payment

    Reduce the price of Iberia and partner tickets with Avios.

  • Partners

    Hotels, experiences, car rental, Maridae wine.

  • Transfer

    Transfer Avios to any other Iberia Club member. The transfer page does not state a minimum tier. A Family Account is joint use, not a transfer, and creating one requires a minimum tier. Up to 7 members.
