How to get the most from it
- Best-value use. Reward Flights. BA’s reward-flights page, correct as of May 2026, shows Europe, the UK and Ireland from 10,000 Avios + £2.50 each way, and Club World from 154,000 Avios + £350 return. Compare that cash amount with the fare you would actually pay. The same page says BA offers at least eight economy seats, two premium economy seats and four business seats on flights from Heathrow and Gatwick, and two plus two at London City.
- Common mistakes. Do not use a “12 seats per flight” figure. That comes from avios.com and does not match BA’s own minimums. Do not treat the Avios Shop retailer count, or an Avios-per-pound shopping rate, as settled: BA’s pages disagree. Household account size is also unresolved.
- Expiry traps. Collect, spend, buy or share at least one Avios every 36 months or the balance and the membership expire. Moving Avios between programmes does not count. Refunded Avios do not count. Buying and Boosting do count.

Avios are collected on British Airways flights and on a list of partners. Some card offers are omitted here.
Flights
Collect Avios (and tier points) on eligible British Airways flights and oneworld partner flights. Contributions to Sustainable Aviation Fuel via BA's platform also earn Avios and tier points.
Flight extras
Pre-booking a seat, paying for extra baggage or upgrading on a British Airways- or Iberia-marketed flight earns Avios.
Holidays, hotels and car hire
BA Holidays packages (with bonus Avios), partner hotels and car rental partners.
Avios Shop / the Edit
Avios Shop is an official earning route. British Airways pages disagree on the retailer count and on any Avios-per-pound rate, so neither figure is confirmed.
Lifestyle partners
Examples on official pages: PizzaExpress dine-in (3 Avios per £1), Uber rides in the UK (linked accounts), Airbnb, travel extras such as airport parking and rail transfers.
Buy, Boost or subscribe
Buy Avios; Boost Avios collected in the last 30 days; Avios Subscription (BA Club members only) credits Avios monthly.
Convert from Nectar
400 Nectar points convert to 250 Avios (Nectar terms).
